Stephanie Bacon
Elementary Coach
Stephanie is passionate about pedagogy. As a classroom teacher for thirteen years and an academic coach for two, the methodologies for inspiring student work has always been at the core of her thinking. She recognizes that teaching is both an art and a science; it is rarely perfect and requires tremendous reflection and analysis, and that is why she loves it.
Stephanie is a long-time Truckee resident, who graduated from our local school, Truckee High. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Planning from Sonoma State, and went on to study teaching at Sierra Nevada College. Most of her learning about the teaching practice occurred during her post graduate work at UC Berkeley and UNR centering around literacy. Having the opportunity to go back to school while working full time with students allowed her to go deep into application of theory.
When Stephanie is not immersed in our honorable profession, she savors time with her family. She loves spending time outdoors and playing sports with her husband and two sons.

Sue Mock
Science Coach
Truckee and TTUSD has been Sue's primary home since she first attended Truckee High School as a freshman. She did, eventually, venture south and earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Ecology at the University of California, Irvine. After a year of working at an Outdoor Science School near Big Bear, CA, I returned to Truckee permanently and completed the coursework necessary to obtain my teaching credential at the University of Nevada, Reno. In 2012, I completed my Master’s of Education degree online through the University at Buffalo, New York, Science and the Public program. I’ve taught primarily middle school science and math in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District for 22 years, and am currently an Academic Science Coach. I feel fortunate to be able to feed my passion in science education by working to support TTUSD science teachers in the process of transitioning to the CA Next Generation Science Standards.
